I have already anticipated part of the answer to this question in the previous point.
What makes featured snippets valuable is the privileged position they have in Google and that provides extra visibility to those contents (and brands) that have them compared to the rest of the results that appear in the SERP.
Another advantage of this type of format is that they allow a greater number of characters and can contain images.
For this reason, in addition to their position, they stand out by occupying a larger space than other “conventional” results.
In short, a featured snippet is visually much more attractive to the user and gives its owner a clear advantage over the competition.
When I talk about advantage, I mean that the probability of receiving a click from the user is much higher than in a normal organic result.
With them, Google conveys to the user the idea that the featured snippet provides quality and relevant information and, based on the above, rewards it by standing out among the rest of the search results.
The last “advantage” that I want to highlight in this section is that achieving a position 0 is (a priori) within reach of both high and low authority domains.
General data extracted from the SEMrush study on Google position zero
The first data we are going to analyze is the percentage of featured snippets obtained in each country and by device.
Google Featured Snippets - Desktop Percentages
Here it is important to highlight the importance of interpreting the data separately for each country, taking into account that they correspond to the total number of keywords analyzed in each of them.
Therefore, we should not fall into the temptation of interpreting that achieving a position 0 is more feasible in Mexico and Colombia than in Spain, as Fernando Macià explains:
Indeed, we must be cautious given that the sample of keywords we started from is twice dubai state name list as many keywords for Spain as for Colombia or Mexico.
Although we might think that the type of searches should maintain the same degree of heterogeneity regardless of the sample size, it is also likely that, as the number of keywords that comprise it increases, the percentage of informational/navigational/transactional/branded searches will not remain homogeneous.
Since featured snippets are activated primarily for informational searches, this different distribution in the sample could affect the percentage obtained.
Why are featured snippets important?
