Alex Bowen, Executive Director of G100 and member of Causa mobile number philippines Emprendimiento, explains that, according to data from the Ministry of Economy, micro, small and medium-sized enterprises represent 65.3% of all formal jobs in the country and the GEM survey indicated that 52% say they intend to start a business. These numbers reflect the role that entrepreneurship plays as a driver of social and economic development for the country's inhabitants and, therefore, we are convinced that it should be a right enshrined in the new Constitution.
In the face of the constituent process, a group of organizations, which have entrepreneurship at the center of our actions, have met because we see an opportunity to make a change in the way things have been done, guaranteeing the freedom to undertake while having full respect for the social and environmental setting in which we operate.
This is an opportunity to incorporate something key into the new Constitution: that the State guarantees freedom of entrepreneurship, acting to ensure sustainable human development, generating decent work and contributing to the reduction of inequalities, allowing the consolidation of social justice, the preservation of natural resources and the rights of future generations. In this way, we will encourage the creation of companies that do not aspire to be the best in the world, but the best for the world.
This process closes on Thursday, January 20 , when citizens can submit text proposals to be incorporated into the new Constitution. And until Tuesday, February 1, people can vote for up to 7 pieces of legislation per person.
And also remember that for them to be discussed and eventually voted on by the constituents, it is necessary to gather at least 15 thousand signatures of support, from at least four different regions.
