“What you don’t control, you don’t own

” Even the (now former) US president recently learned the truth of this entrepreneurial wisdom. In January 2021, Donald Trump’s personal account was blocked by Twitter, which said it was “permanent.” And it deprived him of 88 million subscribers. Interestingly, the social network immediately faced a short-term drop in its stock price and a decrease in the company's capitalization, but even this did not stop it.

Trump's accounts were also blocked and frozen on Facebook, Instagram, list of cyprus whatsapp phone numbers YouTube and other platforms. This is a very telling extreme case: social networks are capable of depriving even the presidents of superpowers of social capital. What can we say about mere mortals… In the modern Internet, you don’t quite own what you seem to control – say, a website on your own server. Because the “visibility” of a resource is manipulated by search engines and, again, social networks.

They can at any moment make it so that your digital “tray” with goods ends up outside the crowded “market” – in an open field, among only lizards and vultures. The same is true for your mobile app, the same is true for your blogs, videos and other channels on any platform, the same is true even for your advertising, for which you pay real money (the manipulations here are more sophisticated – with prices for impressions, “auctions”, etc.
