Chinese actress Ni Ni was the face of Gucci Eyewear’s Spring/Summer 2023 collection. Born in August 1988, Ni has been in the film industry since 2011 and has starred in the historical drama “The Flowers of War” (2011) and the French-Chinese fantasy film “The Gate of Warriors” (2016).
The colourful campaign had a retro feel and featured oversized cat-eye sunglasses with tiger head appliqués, round sequined frames and mottled tan lenses. However, the luxury brand and the actress have been collaborating for several seasons now. In summer 2019, for example, Ni Ni was the face of the summer collection and posed on a desert road, photographed by Hugo Scott and curated by creative director Christopher Simmonds. Back then, the Chinese model was still sporting geometric gold metal frames and pink lenses.
In the interview about this year’s collection, Ni says: “ I have been fascinated by Alessandro Michele’s collections; his passion for the beauty of the past and the way he incorporates his own poetic language into the designs. Being part of this new chapter of Gucci is truly inspiring .”
