Post by shukla7789 »

Meta tags are a fundamental part of SEO… or not, no one is quite sure. It is true that their use was essential until a few years ago, in fact, they were the main parameter when it came to positioning, but their misuse caused their specific weight to decrease until today. Are meta tags still useful? We analyze this throughout this week.

What are meta tags?
Meta tags are spaces that allow you to summarize the content of a specific page. The idea is that Google can analyze the complete content of a page through meta tags intended for robots, although, as we will see, they also have their function for the user.

Below, we review the most useful meta tags for your positioning strategy.

Meta description: This is a description in a couple of sentences that indicates the content of the page. Meta descriptions are measured in characters. How many characters should a meta description have? There is no exact answer. The average is around 155 characters, which are the ones shown in Google SERPs.
Meta keywords: Initially, they were essential. Choosing a series of correct keywords was very important for Google. However, the misuse of these meta tags by many users has made their importance decrease. In any case, it is still advisable to add keywords in this section.
Meta robots: This is probably the most important meta tag nowadays. With this rcs database we give specific instructions to the search engine about our page, for example, in the case that we do not want to index a page, or we do not want Google to crawl it.
Meta viewport: This is a specific tag for mobile pages, which we use to indicate the size of the page on the screen.
Meta nosnippet: This is not a very common tag, but it is worth knowing. Google gives us the option of preventing our page from appearing as highlighted among other searches.
