VPN (Virtual Private Network) allows a public network, such as the Internet, to be used to connect private networks with data privacy through encryption. If VoIP is used through a site-to-site VPN tunnel, which aims to securely connect company branches , voice traffic can be compressed before being sent through the tunnel, which reduces voice latency and packet loss during voice transmission.

Voice calls routed through a site-to-site or remote access VPN tunnel will be more secure than those routed directly over the Internet. The traffic running inside a VPN tunnel is encrypted with encryption algorithms usa phone number lists making it harder for an outsider to eavesdrop on the conversations undetected. It also hides the voice data within the TCP/IP protocol, which further reduces voice latency and packet loss during voice transmission.

This implementation of VoIP over VPN requires voice capabilities on both sides of the tunnel, but provides better voice quality and lower voice latency than when using compression/decompression mechanisms provided by computer hardware. This method is most effective if all communicating parties support voice capabilities, since voice packets are transferred directly from the source to the destination without any form of encryption.

If VoIP is used for voice communication between branch offices and the main office, voice packets must be routed through multiple network layers using a site-to-site or remote access VPN tunnel. This method is bandwidth intensive due to the voice latency introduced by voice packetization and transfer, but it will provide the same level of security as private leased lines or ATM connections.

Your business's encryption model and security policy must be defined in a personalized way, and in addition to choosing the method used, it is essential to adopt good security practices, such as always up-to-date firmware on VoIP phones , use of secure passwords on mobile devices, and encrypting internal Wi-Fi.
